Composition

• Omeprazole 20 mg

Description
Omex is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces stomach acid production. It is widely used for the treatment and prevention of acid-related disorders, providing long-lasting relief and promoting the healing of the gastrointestinal lining.

Indications
Omex is prescribed for:

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Relieves symptoms like heartburn and acid reflux.

• Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD): Heals ulcers in the stomach or duodenum caused by excess acid or H. pylori infection.

• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Manages excessive acid production.

• Erosive Esophagitis: Helps heal inflammation caused by stomach acid.

• NSAID-Associated Ulcer Prevention: Protects the stomach lining during prolonged NSAID use.

Dosage and Administration

• Peptic Ulcer Disease: 20 mg daily for 4-8 weeks or as directed by the physician.

• Take with water; do not crush or chew the capsule.

Storage Instructions

• Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place.

• Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.

• Keep out of reach of children.

Precautions

• Avoid if allergic to Omeprazole or other PPIs.

• Use with caution in patients with:

  • Liver impairment.

  • Osteoporosis (long-term use may increase fracture risk).

• May reduce the absorption of Vitamin B12 with prolonged use.

• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Side Effects

• Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, headache.

• Rare but Serious:

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling).

  • Low magnesium levels (muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat).

  • Persistent diarrhea (Clostridium difficile infection).
